We ask a Cebuano about his favorite places on the island and why they’re considered the best. Check out what this local has to say, whether the choices are obvious or refreshing ones that are off the beaten path.
This time, we asked Chyrel Gomez, a certified outdoor junkie, and cyclist who circles around up the far-flung parts of the city.
Favorite Place or Spot
Q Farm in Cantipla, Transcentral Highway. The whole experience of getting to the farm is a sight to remember. It’s one of the most scenic places to ride at where you see boulder-sized rocks and an awe-inspiring view of the mountains. For non-cyclist, the farm offers horseback riding that takes you to the least explored parts of Cebu.
Tops Skyline Garden. I bike there every afternoon and it has an eagle eye’s view of Cebu City. It’s not just about the city lights but the absence of man-made noise.
Happy Hour Destination
Baguio Craft Brewery Cebu. They’re new in town and they have the wide selection of craft beer. It’s one of the few bike-friendly places in Cebu that’s perfect for solitary drinking or with friends.
Bicester Cafe. My go-to place for brunch where I can also have a cocktail any time of the day. Generous serving, reasonably priced, instagrammable food presentation and it taste as good as it looks.
Farooj Chicken from Balai By Cafe Plus. They have chicken all you can every Tuesday. Farooj Chicken has a different witty from a classic lichen manok with the use of middle eastern spices. Their 4 sauces make it more flavorful. It’s like a party in my palette.
