Badian: Your Summer Escapade - Visit Cebu

Beat the summer heat with a visit to the best places that Badian has to offer.

Kawasan Falls

With its natural spring waters, Kawasan Falls has become a prominent landmark in Badian. It is located in Barangay Matutinao and has three levels of gushing ice cold waters. The first level has a height of 40 meters and diving is strictly prohibited in this area. You can hire a guide or climb the upper levels yourself—just be careful of the steep and slippery incline. Bamboo rafts can also be rented to bring you to the base of the waterfall to feel its strong pressure. Just prepare ₱40.00 (0.77 USD) for the entrance fee and an additional ₱50.00 (0.96 USD) for those who wish to rent life jackets.

Lambug Beach

If you are looking for a clean public beach that’s not overly crowded, try visiting Lambug Beach. With a wide stretch of white sand shorelines, it is a rustic retreat without breaking the bank. Budget friendly accommodations are available just along the shore but you can pitch your tent for ₱150.00 (2.88 USD) per night—just ask the resort owners. Food stalls, convenience stores and karaoke bars can also be found nearby. Lambug Beach currently does not charge for entrance so always ask for an official receipt if you will be requested to pay for any other fees.

Riyi’s Batchoy

Riyi’s Batchoy is the local favorite for some of the most delicious and affordable batchoy in the area. Batchoy is a soup dish that is made of pork stock, pork innards, and fresk miki (egg noodles). It is best enjoyed with a serving of crispy chicharon (fried pork rinds) on the side. For only ₱10.00 (0.19 USD) you can already enjoy a warm bowl of batchoy. Located at Badian’s Town Proper, you’ll immediately notice Riyi’s Batchoy since the lines here are usually long.

Basak Falls

Basak Falls has earned its moniker as the so called ‘hidden falls’ of Badian. Located in Cebeco-1, Mini Hydro, Basak, this spot is rarely visited since the lack of clear pathways makes the area difficult to locate. Don’t search for directions online since the best way to reach the area would be to ask the locals. However, the trek is worth it once you reach the site of these majestic falls. If you enjoy searching for hidden local gems, then you’ll certainly enjoy a visit to Basak Falls.

Malhiao Boardwalk

Located in Barangay Malhiao is a 300-meter boardwalk that is a partnership between the local government and Seacology to protect and conserve Malhiao’s remaining 73-hectare mangrove. The Malhiao Boardwalk is an effort to help stop the illegal logging of mangroves through sustainable tourism development. The boardwalk ends in a viewing deck where you can find yourself enveloped under the trees’ leafy confines and overarching branches. Whether you find yourself conversing with the locals about their sustainable initiatives or just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, your visit will definitely help boost the local economy.

Prices are subject to change without prior notice.
